About bi-folding gates
A bi-folding (or bi-fold) gate has leaves that fold in half as they open, so each side needs about half the swing space of a normal gate. Speed bi-fold gates are a fast-opening security option.
They suit entrances with limited space inside, commercial sites that want fast opening, and drives where a sliding gate's run-back is not available.
Local considerations in Basford, Nottingham
In England, powered gates and barriers are machinery: they must be installed and maintained so they are safe in use (BS EN 12453 force limits, photocells and safety edges) under health and safety law, and any gate onto a road must not open over the highway.
Work in Basford is a mix of residential blocks, schools, offices, industrial units and homes, and we tailor the specification to how busy the site is.
We check the hinge arrangement, leaf weight and the pinch points where the leaves fold, which need safety edges. The price shown is a comparable articulated swing operator; dedicated bi-fold operators are quoted after survey.
Maintenance of bi-folding gates in Basford
Planned maintenance keeps bi-folding gates safe and reliable and gives you records for insurers and inspections. We service CAME and all other makes: we check fixings, wear, power and battery backup, controls and safety devices, adjust and lubricate where needed, test operation end to end and leave a written report with any recommended actions.
