About cantilever gates
A cantilever gate is a sliding gate that hangs from roller carriages behind the opening, so nothing runs across the ground in the entrance. It is driven by a rack-and-pinion sliding operator.
Cantilever gates suit industrial yards, commercial depots, building sites and any entrance with uneven, soft or gravel ground, or where snow and debris would block a ground track.
Local considerations in Preston, Lancashire
In England, powered gates and barriers are machinery: they must be installed and maintained so they are safe in use (BS EN 12453 force limits, photocells and safety edges) under health and safety law, and any gate onto a road must not open over the highway.
In a built-up area like Preston, many jobs are in blocks of flats, mixed-use buildings and car parks, so access, parking for our vans and out-of-hours working are planned at survey.
We check the counterbalance length, carriage foundations, post alignment and the operator size. Our shop price shown is for a sliding operator, which drives cantilever gates; the gate and carriages are quoted after survey.
Maintenance of cantilever gates in Preston
Planned maintenance keeps cantilever gates safe and reliable and gives you records for insurers and inspections. We service CAME and all other makes: we check fixings, wear, power and battery backup, controls and safety devices, adjust and lubricate where needed, test operation end to end and leave a written report with any recommended actions.
Repairs in Preston
If your cantilever gates has stopped working, is noisy, is opening or closing on its own or is showing a fault, we fault-find on site and repair it, often on the first visit using parts from our shop. We repair systems we did not install and work on all common makes.
Servicing in Preston
Servicing intervals depend on use and risk; most sites have a service at least once a year, busy or safety-critical systems more often. We can set up a service contract with reminders so it is never missed. Installation, maintenance, repair and service prices are POA after a free survey and quote.
