About intercoms & door entry

Audio and video intercoms let you see or speak to visitors at a gate or door and open it remotely, including IP and app-based systems.

Used at houses, flats and HMOs, offices and gated developments.

Local considerations in Balerno, City of Edinburgh

In Scotland, powered gates and barriers are machinery: they must be installed and maintained so they are safe in use (BS EN 12453 force limits, photocells and safety edges) under health and safety law, and any gate onto a road must not open over the highway.

At roughly 165 m above sea level, Balerno sees more wind, driving rain and frost than lowland areas, so we pay attention to weather sealing, cable entries and, for vents, rain and wind sensors.

Around Balerno we often work on smaller blocks, rural businesses, farms and private homes, where power supply and cable runs can be longer, so we check these at survey.

We check cable routes, number of flats, power, network and the lock or gate interface.

Maintenance of intercoms & door entry in Balerno

Planned maintenance keeps intercoms & door entry safe and reliable and gives you records for insurers and inspections. We service CAME and all other makes: we check fixings, wear, power and battery backup, controls and safety devices, adjust and lubricate where needed, test operation end to end and leave a written report with any recommended actions.
