About rising arm barriers
A rising arm barrier (boom barrier) is a cabinet with a motor that raises and lowers a horizontal arm across a lane. It controls traffic rather than stopping a determined vehicle.
They are used at car parks, business parks, hospitals, schools, residential developments, depots and toll or ticket lanes.
Local considerations in Crawley, West Sussex
In England, powered gates and barriers are machinery: they must be installed and maintained so they are safe in use (BS EN 12453 force limits, photocells and safety edges) under health and safety law, and any gate onto a road must not open over the highway.
In a built-up area like Crawley, many jobs are in blocks of flats, mixed-use buildings and car parks, so access, parking for our vans and out-of-hours working are planned at survey.
We check lane width (arm length), traffic volume, the base for the cabinet, cable ducts for loops and power, and whether an arm skirt or support is needed.
Maintenance of rising arm barriers in Crawley
Planned maintenance keeps rising arm barriers safe and reliable and gives you records for insurers and inspections. We service CAME and all other makes: we check fixings, wear, power and battery backup, controls and safety devices, adjust and lubricate where needed, test operation end to end and leave a written report with any recommended actions.
Repairs in Crawley
If your rising arm barriers has stopped working, is noisy, is opening or closing on its own or is showing a fault, we fault-find on site and repair it, often on the first visit using parts from our shop. We repair systems we did not install and work on all common makes.
Servicing in Crawley
Servicing intervals depend on use and risk; most sites have a service at least once a year, busy or safety-critical systems more often. We can set up a service contract with reminders so it is never missed. Installation, maintenance, repair and service prices are POA after a free survey and quote.
