About safety edges & photocells
Safety edges are pressure-sensitive strips that stop and reverse a gate on contact; photocells are infra-red beams that stop a gate if something is in the way.
Fitted to all automatic gates, barriers and doors.
Local considerations in Selkirk, The Scottish Borders
In Scotland, powered gates and barriers are machinery: they must be installed and maintained so they are safe in use (BS EN 12453 force limits, photocells and safety edges) under health and safety law, and any gate onto a road must not open over the highway.
At roughly 178 m above sea level, Selkirk sees more wind, driving rain and frost than lowland areas, so we pay attention to weather sealing, cable entries and, for vents, rain and wind sensors.
Around Selkirk we often work on smaller blocks, rural businesses, farms and private homes, where power supply and cable runs can be longer, so we check these at survey.
We assess every crush, shear and trapping point and fit edges and photocells to suit, then force-test.
Maintenance of safety edges & photocells in Selkirk
Planned maintenance keeps safety edges & photocells safe and reliable and gives you records for insurers and inspections. We service CAME and all other makes: we check fixings, wear, power and battery backup, controls and safety devices, adjust and lubricate where needed, test operation end to end and leave a written report with any recommended actions.
Repairs in Selkirk
