About vehicle loop detectors

An induction loop is a cable cut into the road surface that detects metal vehicles. The loop detector in the control panel opens a gate or barrier, holds it open, or stops it closing.

Used on barriers, gates, bollards and car park exits.

Local considerations in Hexham, Northumberland

In England, powered gates and barriers are machinery: they must be installed and maintained so they are safe in use (BS EN 12453 force limits, photocells and safety edges) under health and safety law, and any gate onto a road must not open over the highway.

Around Hexham we often work on smaller blocks, rural businesses, farms and private homes, where power supply and cable runs can be longer, so we check these at survey.

We plan loop size, saw-cut depth, feeder length and detector channels.

Maintenance of vehicle loop detectors in Hexham

Planned maintenance keeps vehicle loop detectors safe and reliable and gives you records for insurers and inspections. We service CAME and all other makes: we check fixings, wear, power and battery backup, controls and safety devices, adjust and lubricate where needed, test operation end to end and leave a written report with any recommended actions.

Repairs in Hexham

If your vehicle loop detectors has stopped working, is noisy, is opening or closing on its own or is showing a fault, we fault-find on site and repair it, often on the first visit using parts from our shop. We repair systems we did not install and work on all common makes.

Servicing in Hexham

Servicing intervals depend on use and risk; most sites have a service at least once a year, busy or safety-critical systems more often. We can set up a service contract with reminders so it is never missed. Installation, maintenance, repair and service prices are POA after a free survey and quote.
